Petty Officer V. Thomas Hetherington of Hamlin, a combat veteran of the Navy, was recognized Wednesday by Rep. Louise Slaughter of Fairport who presented him with medals honoring his combat service in Vietnam.
Several years ago, Hetherington had given his medals to his brother Nick, a Marine, which were buried with him when he died. Slaughter and her staff obtained the replacement medals, along with two additional medals they discovered he was eligible for: the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation and the Korean Defense Service Medal.See the full content of this document
