The Canal Society of New York State, the New York State Canal Corp., Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission, Canal N.Y. Inc. and Visit Rochester on Tuesday announced that Rochester will be the site of a future World Canals Conference, set for Sept. 19 to 23, 2010.

The conference brings together canal professionals and managers, enthusiasts, tourism professionals and scholars from throughout the world to exchange ideas and discuss strategies for preservation, economic revitalization, tourism, education and interpretation of canal corridors and historic sites, according to a release from the society.
