New York State Court of Appeals Associate Judge Eugene F. Pigott Jr., former presiding justice of the Appellate Division, Fourth Department, addressed family law attorneys from throughout the state during a luncheon at the New York State Bar Association's annual meeting on Thursday afternoon.

Judge Pigott, a native of Rush and graduate of SUNY at Buffalo School of Law, praised family law attorneys for their professionalism and spoke about Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye's achievements. The chief judge, retiring at the end of 2008, has instituted dozens of alternative treatment courts and authorized commissions to evaluate other courts, often acting on their recommendations, Judge Pigott said.
