Aba Endorses N.Y. State Bar Assn. Resolution Against Mandatory Retirement

Summary


At the annual meeting of the House of Delegates, the American Bar Association this week endorsed a recommendation from the New York State Bar Association that calls on firms to discontinue requiring senior lawyers to retire when they reach an arbitrary age.

The ABA also agreed that law firms should evaluate senior partners individually based on performance criteria used to evaluate other lawyers in the firm.
